Natural History Museum of Sibiu was founded in 1849 by people passionate about knowledge of nature, people gathered in the Transylvanian Society of Natural Sciences.
The first collections of the museum were two herbaria in which there were more than 30,000 pieces. Along the way, due to increasing the number of collections that the museum space became too small and was needed to create a own building. This, which is found in this museum is in the former Park Theatre and was built between 1894-1895.
From January 1, 1957 is part of the National Museum Brukental having turn two sections: Museum of Pharmacy and August von Spiess Museum of Hunting.
Number of existing parts in the Natural History Museum of Sibiu has increased significantly since World War II, so that in 1982 there were over 1.6 million museum pieces.
Since 2007 in the Museum of Natural History have been several important changes, such as a lighting system following day-night cycle or sound, reproducing the dynamics of aid for each ecosystem.

Summer: Tuesday - Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday and the first Tuesday of every month is closed
Winter: Wednesday - Sunday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday and Tuesday closed
