Liars Bridge from Sibiu is a steel bridge built in 1859 over the Ocna street. The bridge connects the Down Town and Upper Town. By the mid-nineteenth century the entrance to the city was through a curved tunnel. Place crossed that tunnel was called Lies benches.
Of the names of the Liars Bridge are several legends:
- The most famous is the one that says that the bridge has a power and thus hard to imagine, at any lie he heard start to moan
- Another legend says that on the bridge was constantly walking young couples in love, girls saying that they are virgins. After the wedding night was found that they lied and were brought to the bridge and thrown off of it
- Last legend says that in the Small Square from Sibiu were held fairs and buyers within them when they came home they realized that they were duped. They came back to the market where the traders took them and went on the bridge where he later discarded.
Currently Liars Bridge, that links the Small Square and Huet Square, is the oldest iron bridge in Romania currently used. Before it, had been created two such bridges, but both are not currently using.
In 2004 the Liars Bridge was declared historical monuments in the county. Two years later it was restored by a German company specializing in projects for restoration.
